Reverend Dr. Mark Bayogar Cisco
Pastor Mark Cisco became the pastor of the Monterey United Methodist Church on/about
June 2021 following retirement from military service. Since he was assigned pastor, he
has been able to build relationships with the membership. Numerous ministries have been
instituted and supported by pastor cisco such as:
Active Youth Ministry; Active Youth Choir; Career Ministry for the young adults;
Monthly Food ministry; Worship Projection Ministry;
Chaplain (LTC) Mark B. Cisco was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United
States Army Reserve in November 1999. His education includes: a Bachelor of Theology
from the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary; Master of Divinity from the
Interdenominational Theological Center; Master of Arts in Human Development and
Counseling from Clark Atlanta University and Doctor of Ministry Degree from the
Interdenominational Theological Center. Chaplain Cisco is currently certified with the
Georgia Professional Standards as a Georgia educator. Chaplain Cisco is a graduate of
the Chaplain Officer Leadership Basic Course, the Chaplain Captain Career Course, and
the Command and General Staff College.
Chaplain Cisco was assigned as a Chaplain for the 490 th Chemical Battalion with units
covering four states; Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida. In 2004, he was
transferred to the 352 nd CSSB in Macon, Georgia as the Battalion Chaplain, and deployed
with the 352 nd to Mosul, Iraq, where he was directly responsible for over 850 Soldiers. He
planned and implemented all aspects of command directed training such as critical
incident stress briefings; suicide prevention; redeployment briefings; stress management,
and provided pastoral support for Soldiers and their families. Chaplain Cisco was
awarded the Bronze Star medal and Combat Action Badge for his service in Iraq.
Chaplain Cisco served in numerous positions including: Deputy Brigade Chaplain, 177 th
Armored Brigade, Division East, First Army; Brigade Chaplain; 157 th Infantry Brigade,
Division East, First Army; Future Soldier Manager, Chaplain Recruiting Branch, Medical
Recruiting Brigade, Deputy Division Chaplain, Division West, First Army, Family Life
Chaplain at the 79 th Theater Support Command (TSC). Chaplain Cisco recently
completed a deployment as the Commander, 104 Chaplain Detachment and Chief,
Religious Support Operations, 1 st Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), Arifjan. Kuwait.
He retired in 2021 following 22 years of military service.
Chaplain Cisco is married to Dorcas Abena, a Pharmacist and they have six children:
Wilma-Marie, Mark Emmanuel, Gwen Medea, Preston Warren, Allen Cisco and Sybil.
He is originally from Liberia, West Africa.
